The passive rand is structured and tensioned for situations where comfort, not dynamic support, is the primary focus. New climbers developing their footwork, professional guides leading full-day trips, and long, multi-pitch climbs are all examples of how comfort is equally important and beneficial as performance.

Pressure Absorbing Fit (PAF) System

PAF (Pressure Absorbing Fit) is an innovative heel system that helps both distribute the force of heel tension and enhance heel compliance. Active Rand rubber is interrupted at the back of the heel to reduce pressure on the Achilles tendon and is connected to 2mm XS GRIP2 rubber, which acts like a bridge, conforming precisely to the shape of the heel while still providing dynamic forward pressure to focus force on the ball of the foot. Perforations on the lateral side of the heel indicate the applied tension, varying between 1 hole for light tension, 2 holes for medium tension, and 3 holes for heavy tension.
